Choice’s kitchen expert Chantelle said the pan (pictured) is ‘lightweight, well-balanced and easy to clean’
‘It’s a lightweight, well-balanced pan that’s easy to clean,’ Chantelle told Choice.
‘In our tests, it scored well for evenness of heating and durability. Even though it’s only $16, it’s comparable with other brands that are significantly more expensive.’
She added that it has an ‘excellent distribution of heat’ that makes it perfect for cooking even pancakes.
The Kmart Anko offering also rated well in Choice’s durability test, where they scrubbed one section of the pan surface 10,000 times with a scourer attached to a mechanical scrubbing arm to see if it faded, discoloured or got worse.
The last area that the pan impressed was in ease-of-use, after they found it is safe for both the oven and any type of cooktop.
Choice’s experts said that while Kmart say the pan can be put in the dishwasher, they wouldn’t recommend it if you want to prolong its life.

While there were a number of major pros to the Anko frying pan, there were a few drawbacks for the consumer experts team:
‘While it did receive a high Choice Expert rating, this pan has a thin base so it will continue to heat as you cook continue to heat as you cook,’ Chantelle said.
‘This means that you need to adjust your heat settings as you cook to prevent burning or sticking.’
Chantelle also highlighted that while the stainless steel handle is quite comfortable to hold, it doesn’t have a non-slip grip which can make it difficult to lift or flip food.
However, on the whole the expert said the pan is a good overall buy, especially for the price.
On the Kmart website, it has an impressive five-star rating, and people have described it as ‘excellent quality for the price’ (the pan pictured)
It’s not just the consumer experts at Choice who love the frying pan.
